Thurston County Sheriff's Office employees beat local firefighters 79-72 in the fourth annual Fire and Ice charity basketball game Saturday, Oct. 24, at Tumwater High School.
The win by Team Ice evened the series at two games apiece, according to the Nisqually Valley News. Team Fire had won two of the first three matchups, including a 75-56 victory on Nov. 22, 2025.
Proceeds from the game go to Shop With a Cop, an annual program that lets underserved children in Thurston County buy Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.
Last year's game raised nearly $9,000, about $2,000 more than the year before. That money allowed 40 children from Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County and Family Support Center to participate in Shop With a Cop. The total raised at this year's game has not been announced.
The annual game pits law enforcement against firefighters, with admission set at $10 and free entry for children under 12. Concessions and a food truck were available at the event.
The series now stands at 2-2.
