Local aerialists will perform to Björk's music under open sky on August 1 when "Possibly//Maybe: A Björk-Themed Outdoor Circus Show" lands in a grassy field on Olympia's Eastside.

The show, organized by The Brotherhood Takes Flight, offers two all-ages performances at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the field next to Capital Vision Christian Church, 1775 Yew Ave. NE, near the intersection of Yew and Lybarger. No ticket is required, though organizers suggest a $20 to $30 donation.

The event listing on The JOLT describes the show as a circus set to Björk's catalog that explores community — "what makes it possible, challenging, and necessary in trying times."

A departure from the usual format

The Brotherhood Takes Flight is a familiar name in Olympia's performing arts scene. The group normally stages its aerial shows on the first Sunday of each month, October through June, inside The Brotherhood Lounge downtown.

Those shows are 21-and-over, start at 5 p.m., and carry a $20 suggested donation.

The August 1 performance breaks from that pattern in almost every way: it's outdoors, all-ages, on a Saturday evening, and in a residential neighborhood rather than a bar.

The group's Facebook page describes itself as "Olympia's favorite aerial circus show, featuring amazing local talent and regional guests."

Behind the performances is the Airbound Underground Circus Collective, a collectively run troupe of local performers that produces and performs in the Brotherhood Takes Flight shows, according to Sparrow Studios Olympia's community page.

Sparrow Studios, located at 207 Washington St. NE in downtown Olympia, has offered aerial, acrobatics, and circus arts classes for adults and children since 2015.

What to bring

Attendees should bring a blanket or chair. The field is open-air with no fixed seating. The event is walk-up — no advance RSVP or ticket purchase is needed.

The Brotherhood Takes Flight's regular indoor season at The Brotherhood Lounge resumes in October 2026.
