The Buns of Glory food truck at 2915 Yelm Highway SE turned one year old in early July, and the lunch crowd keeps showing up for fresh burgers cooked to order out of a truck near Rich Road Southeast.
Lacey resident Victor Holtzman was there on July 22, picking up an order his daughters had requested by name.
"I mean, you can't beat the price, and the taste is fantastic," Holtzman told The Olympian.
Co-owners Jereme Johnson and Jon McCaslin built the business on a simple formula: a short menu, no freezer, and everything cooked fresh.
Johnson described the approach in a July interview with The Olympian, where he also shared the truck's origin story and his plans for the future.
The two met on a golf course years ago and always talked about going into business together. McCaslin works at Tri City Meats in Olympia. Johnson has experience running golf course cafes. When they finally decided to take the leap, burgers were the obvious pick.
The menu is tight. Hamburger, cheeseburger, double hamburger, double cheeseburger, fries, and three chicken sandwiches added in March 2026. The flagship is the Glory Burger: double meat, double cheese, double bacon. But the single cheeseburger outsells everything else, Johnson said.
Every sandwich comes with lettuce, pickle, and onion. Burgers get "glory sauce," a mayonnaise-and-ketchup fry sauce. Chicken sandwiches get "birdie sauce," which Johnson described as a mix of heat and sweet that won't overwhelm.
The truck is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, though hot weather has forced early closures. Customers can check for schedule changes on Facebook, Instagram (@bunsofglorymobilegrill), or at bogburgers.com.
Looking ahead, Johnson said he'd like to eventually open a brick-and-mortar location with a drive-thru, possibly near the proposed Costco development on Tumwater Boulevard. No lease has been signed, and the Costco project itself has no confirmed timeline.
