Jesus Ramirez Molina, 42, faces arraignment at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, in Thurston County Superior Court on four felony charges in the alleged kidnapping and rape of a 13-year-old girl in Olympia.
Prosecutors charged Molina on Saturday, Aug. 29, with first-degree kidnapping with aggravated circumstances, second-degree rape, second-degree rape of a child and distribution of a controlled substance to a minor. Each count carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Molina has been held at the Thurston County Jail on $1 million bail since his arrest. Judge Christopher Lanese set the bail amount and ordered GPS monitoring and no contact with minors, The Olympian reported.
What court documents allege
Court documents filed with the charges provide a detailed account of the alleged events, as reported by the Nisqually Valley News.
The girl left her home the evening before her disappearance after an argument with relatives and texted that she would return by 9 p.m. Her family reported her missing at about 10:05 p.m. after she did not come home.
According to court documents, the girl sent audio messages to friends saying she had consumed multiple high-alcohol beverages and had been approached by a man who offered her donuts and more drinks. She described the man's vehicle as "a red and white van with tape on the windows."
The girl told police that Molina first drove by and commented on her shoes, then offered her a donut. She declined, telling him it "might be laced." He offered to drive her to a donut store. She declined again, saying "that's how kidnapping happens."
Molina allegedly returned on foot to the Church of Living Waters parking lot on 18th Avenue Southeast, where the girl was sitting. He allegedly told her to get in his vehicle or he would hurt her, court documents state. The girl told police she got in out of fear.
Inside the vehicle, Molina allegedly gave the girl methamphetamine and cannabis to smoke. The girl believed the substance was solely cannabis, according to court documents. Molina then allegedly raped her.
The girl reported she told Molina she was 13. He allegedly responded with something to the effect of "it's our little secret," court documents state.
Molina's statements to police
When interviewed by police, Molina allegedly described seeing the girl as "an opportunity to possibly have sex with a woman by offering her some alcohol," according to court documents.
He initially claimed "they did not have sex and just kissed" but later allegedly admitted to sexual activity after being confronted with physical evidence, the documents show. He also allegedly admitted to giving the girl meth and cannabis.
Molina also allegedly told police that if he had known the girl was 13, he would not have done it. That claim directly conflicts with the girl's account that she told him her age and he responded by telling her to keep it secret.
In The Olympian's Aug. 28 report on the initial arrest, the probable cause statement said Molina admitted to a "sex addiction problem" and to using drugs and alcohol to pursue sex with the girl.
Search warrant findings
Detectives who searched Molina's vehicle under a warrant found a bag of urine, two beer cans, a clothing item belonging to the victim and drug paraphernalia. They also found multiple colorful stuffed animals described as "consistent with those marketed towards children," women's jewelry, a small purse containing jewelry and a purple keychain on Molina's truck keys that read "sweet 16."
The girl was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital for medical treatment after Molina's arrest.
The Olympian reported that it asked Thurston County Public Defense to comment but received no response. No statement from the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney's Office appeared in public records as of publication.
Molina's Sept. 1 arraignment will determine how he pleads to the four charges.
