Sergio's Place Service Center will stay open until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 22, giving people without shelter two extra hours to get relief from dangerous heat.
Thurston County Public Health & Social Services issued a Hazardous Weather Advisory yesterday warning that high temperatures pose serious risks for unsheltered residents.
In response, multiple community organizations are mobilizing cooling resources across the Olympia area.
Where to go
Sergio's Place is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days, two hours past its usual 6 p.m. close.
The shelter guest entrance is at 3501 Mary Elder Rd NE, with a walk-up entrance off Martin Way. Pets are welcome.

Who else is responding
Olympia Mutual Aid Partners (OlyMAP) will conduct outreach during the heat event, distributing emergency supplies to individuals and families living outside.
Interfaith Works is collecting donations at Sergio's Place during regular hours, Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the donation collection entrance at 3501 Mary Elder Rd NE.
What's needed
Residents who want to help can drop off bottled water, sports drinks, sports drink mix, popsicles, non-perishable snacks, tarps, hats, summer clothing, and sunscreen.
