Six football players from Olympia High School and Capital High School have committed to college programs for the 2026 season.
According to a South Sound recruiting tracker published June 26 by The News Tribune's Tyler Wicke, Olympia High sends three players to three different schools. Offensive lineman Parker Otheim heads to Central Washington University, offensive lineman William Wittgow-Busch will play at Montana Western, and wide receiver Canon Betts is bound for Valley City State in North Dakota.
Capital High matches that total with three commits of its own. Defensive back Kellen McDaniel stays close to home at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, wide receiver Chayton Hatch heads to Shasta College in California, and offensive lineman Cort Larsen joins Betts at Valley City State.
No Tumwater High School or Black Hills High School players appear on the tracker's current 2026 commit list. Tumwater quarterback Jaxon Budd, who led the Thunderbirds to their third straight 2A state championship game last fall and won the state long jump title in May, does not have a listed college football commitment.
The tracker covers more than 80 athletes across the broader South Sound. The highest-profile Power 4 commits include Lance McGee of Sumner heading to Washington State and defensive lineman Derek Colman-Brusa of Kennedy Catholic joining the University of Washington.
Wicke noted the list is a living document and will be updated as new commitments are announced through the summer.
