West Olympia is getting a new chicken-wing restaurant and 15 to 20 new jobs when Wingstop opens Friday, Aug. 21 at 1620 Cooper Point Road SW, Suite 230.

The location sits in the shopping center at Cooper Point Road and Black Lake Boulevard, near Half Price Books. It will be the second Wingstop in Thurston County, joining the existing Yelm location.

Far West Restaurant Group, one of the chain's largest franchisees, is the operator. The Costa Mesa, California-based company runs 185 Wingstop locations across multiple states, and the Olympia store will be its 28th in Washington, marketing manager Chris Martinez told The Olympian on Aug. 5.

The opening also means a promotion for at least one worker. An assistant manager at another Far West location will step up to become general manager of the Olympia store, Martinez said.

"It's basically a platform for them," Martinez told The Olympian. "We use this as a way to grow careers."

The store is hiring now. A typical location employs 15 to 20 workers, according to Martinez, and applications are available through a Paycor recruiting portal linked from the company's announcement.

The Olympia location will feature what Martinez called a "next gen" lobby interior that pays homage to the city. The menu includes boneless wings, tenders and chicken sandwiches in flavors such as lemon pepper, hot honey and OG Hot, along with sides like Louisiana voodoo fries topped with Cajun seasoning, cheese sauce and house-made ranch.

Martinez said the store plans to support local schools and youth programs, including Boys and Girls Clubs, through community fundraising events.

Wingstop was the fastest-growing restaurant chain in the country in 2025, adding 382 locations to reach 2,586 U.S. stores, according to QSR Magazine. The brand is targeting 378 new franchise openings nationally in 2026, though same-store sales fell 3.3% last year and 8.7% in the first quarter of 2026.
