The Olympia City Council is expected to approve lease and funding agreements for two tiny home villages
On June 23, the council placed all four resolutions on the Consent Calendar for the 6 p.m. session. Consent Calendar items pass unless a council member pulls them for separate discussion.
Resolutions 26-0438 and 26-0471 authorize a lease and funding agreement with Catholic Community Services for the Quince Street Tiny Home Village. Resolutions 26-0472 and 26-0473 authorize a lease and funding agreement with Valeo Vocation for operations at the Franz Anderson Tiny Home Village.
The published agenda does not list dollar amounts for either village agreement. Full resolution texts may be available on the city's Legistar portal.
The city's action comes one week after Thurston County commissioners tabled $15.3 million in homeless services contracts on Tuesday, June 16, after Tumwater Mayor Leatta Dahlhoff objected. Those county contracts remain paused, according to The Olympian. Whether the city agreements draw from the same funding streams as the paused county contracts is unclear from the published agenda, though both address homelessness in the region.
Also scheduled for Tuesday's meeting:
- Park impact fees: Ordinance 26-0444, amending Olympia Municipal Code Chapters 15.04, 15.08, and 15.16, is up for second reading and adoption. Specific fee amounts were not included in the agenda summary.
- EV charging grant: Resolution 26-0480 would authorize a grant agreement with Rocky Mountain Institute for a multifamily electric vehicle charging project.
- CDBG loan subordination: Resolution 26-0441 would subordinate Community Development Block Grant loans for Behavioral Health Resources' B&B Apartments.
- Forestland fire mutual aid: Resolution 26-0467 authorizes an agreement with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
The agenda also includes public hearings on a substantial amendment to the 2023–27 CDBG Consolidated Plan and the Program Year 2026 CDBG Annual Action Plan.
Residents who want to speak get two minutes during the 30-minute public comment period. Sign-up sheets are in the foyer. Those needing accommodations must contact the Assistant to the City Manager at 360-753-8441 at least 48 hours in advance.
