Capital Mall is putting its locally owned businesses front and center with a new marketing campaign called Support LOC-OLY.

The campaign, detailed in a paid promotional article published June 23 provides shoppers a way to identify which of the mall's locally owned tenants are through in-store signage, featured articles on the Capital Mall website, and interview-style owner spotlights.

Cassidy Badger, Capital Mall's marketing and business development manager, said the effort responds to shopper demand for ways to identify and support local businesses inside the mall. Capital Mall says it has more than 25 locally owned tenants.

The first spotlight went live on Capital Mall's Instagram on Saturday, June 20, three days before the campaign's formal announcement. It featured 777ish Cookies, run by an owner who goes by Chocolate and has been baking for more than 20 years alongside her husband and son.

"We know our community cares deeply about supporting local businesses and being intentional about where they shop," Badger said.

The campaign comes as the mall seeks to fill available space with locally owned businesses. Interested entrepreneurs can contact Badger directly.

Capital Mall also hosts free Makers Markets organized by The Glided Creatrix on July 18, September 19, and November 21. A locally owned go-kart operation runs in the parking lot through the end of September.
